MultiSports ECT 2300 Elliptical Review

Elliptical Rating: ★☆☆☆☆

MultiSports ellipticals are available in a wide range of entry-level and mid-priced models. The ECT 2300 is one of its simpler cross trainers. It gets good customer reviews for durability, but its poor ergonomics make it difficult to recommend.

Elliptical Hits: Best Features of the MultiSports ECT 2300 Elliptical Trainer

  • Preset workouts –This machine has eight preset workouts and includes space for saving four user-designed routines.
  • Heart rate monitors – The 2300 has a contact heart rate monitor and wireless telemetry.

Elliptical Misses: How the ECT 2300 Needs to Improve

  • Short stride – This machine’s short 15” stride could only provide children and unusually short grown-ups with true elliptical workouts. Most other budget ellipticals have at least an 18” stride to support a better range of motion.
  • Wide-set pedals MultiSports ellipticals have 4” to 6” of space between their pedals. While the company advertises this as close spacing, many personal trainers recommend machines with smaller pedal gaps (two inches or smaller) to promote more natural hip movement.
  • Poor warranty – The standard MultiSports elliptical warranty includes a lifetime warranty on the frame and a year of protection on parts. For an additional fee, customers can get longer coverage on parts plus labor. Be sure to build that extra coverage into the purchase price when comparing the ECT 2300 with other cross trainers.

Overall Rating for the MultiSports ECT 2300 Elliptical Trainer

MultiSports offers a wide variety of elliptical trainers. Customers seeking low-priced or mid-priced home trainers could be content with a MultiSports product, but the ECT 2300 is not recommended. Its short stride and wide pedal spacing put stress on the body and defeat the purpose of purchasing an elliptical trainer.

The MultiSports 6600L has a long 21” stride. However, it also has wide pedal spacing, which can be especially uncomfortable for women. Competitors such as NordicTrack and Schwinn offer better ergonomics, longer standard warranties, and additional features at comparable prices.
