Nautilus elliptical trainers are developed and manufactured in the USA by Nautilus, Inc. The Vancouver-based company is known for producing a variety of fitness equipment brands: BowFlex, Schwinn Fitness, StairMaster, and others.

Nautilus ellipticals were once known for overall high quality and good value. However, Nautilus, Inc. seems to be phasing out its Nautilus ellipticals and devoting more resources to other brands.

Brand Features of Nautilus Ellipticals

• Price – Nautilus trainers fit a range of budgets. Some of their models cost well above $2000, but the Nautilus E514 is a budget elliptical that sells for under $1000.

• Good strides – Nautilus ellipticals generally have fixed strides of 18”, though the E916 adjusts up to 30”.

• Comfortable pedals – To promote comfort, Nautilus includes oversized foot pedals on all its trainers. The commercial-quality E916 has articulating foot pedals for even better ergonomics.

• Compact size – Some Nautilus trainers have small footprints. The residential E514 measures 62″L x 26″W. The commercial-quality E916, on the other hand, is significantly longer.

• Extras – Fans, magazine racks, and bottle holders are included even on Nautilus budget ellipticals.

• Good warranties – Nautilus cross trainers are sold with at least 10-year protection on the frame, 2 years on most parts, and 1 year on electronics.

Overall Rating for Nautilus Elliptical Trainers

Nautilus was once a top elliptical brand, but Nautilus ellipticals have lost their preeminence. Although the company’s only current model, the E514, is low-priced and has some nice features, it doesn’t compare to some other discount ellipticals — including Schwinns, which are also produced by Nautilus, Inc. Retired Nautilus models, such as the commercial-quality E916, have curiously high MSRPs. However, the high-end Nautilus ellipticals are worth purchasing at a discount.
