ProForm StrideSelect 600 Elliptical Review

Elliptical Rating: ★☆☆☆☆

The StrideSelect 600 is another low-cost elliptical from ProForm. Customers get an excellent variety of workout programs, but the ergonomics of this machine are substandard – in fact, so poor that customers have claimed it causes joint pains. Move on to another ProForm option, such as the 4.0 X with incline, or check out other discount elliptical brands such as Horizon.

Elliptical Hits: What You Get with the ProForm StrideSelect 600

  • Space saving design – This elliptical can be folded vertically for easy storage. The pedals and base fold upward.
  • Workout variety – The StrideSelect has twenty cross trainer workouts, two heart rate workouts, and an iFit card reader. With each iFit card (sold separately), customers get 8 weeks of customized training.
  • Workout fan – A CoolAire fan is built into the console.
  • Audio port – An iPod-compatible port lets people play music through the console’s speaker.

Elliptical Misses: What’s Not to Like?

  • Warranty – This machine has a poor warranty: its low-quality parts are only guaranteed for 90 days.
  • Cheap construction – Customer reviews indicate that StrideSelect units have broken down after just a few uses.
  • Poor biomechanics – This machine doesn’t support healthy motion, so it doesn’t feel good to use.

Overall Rating for the ProForm StrideSelect Elliptical 600

ProForm’s StrideSelect 600 is an ironic machine: ellipticals should be low-impact, but this machine is hard on the hips and knees. Furthermore, it’s made of cheap parts and has a short warranty. The ProForm 4.0 X is a better option.
