ProForm StrideSelect Elliptical Review

Elliptical Rating: ★½☆☆☆

The StrideSelect is a very low-cost ($500) folding elliptical from ProForm. Customers get an excellent variety of workout programs, but this machine’s maximum stride is just 16”. The StrideSelect is best for people seeking a steeper climb than they’d get with a typical elliptical trainer.

Elliptical Hits: What You Get with the ProForm StrideSelect

  • Adjustable stride – Options include 11″, 13″, and 16” strides. These are all shorter than a regular gait.
  • Workout variety – The StrideSelect has twenty built-in personal trainer workouts and two heart rate control workouts. Furthermore, it’s iFit compatible. That combination is exceptional for a cheap elliptical trainer.
  • Audio port – An iPod-compatible port lets people play music through the console’s speaker.
  • Workout fan – An adjustable fan is built into the console.
  • Space saving design – This elliptical can be folded vertically for easy storage. It weighs 151 pounds and is best for a person of average or lighter height and weight.

Elliptical Misses: What’s Not to Like?

  • Poor warranty – This machine has a poor warranty: its low-quality parts are only guaranteed for 90 days. It can be returned to the manufacturer within 30 days for a refund.
  • Cheap construction – Customer reviews indicate that StrideSelect units have broken down after just a few uses.
  • Short stride – This machine has very short strides that might hurt users with sensitive joints.

Overall Rating for the ProForm StrideSelect Elliptical 600

ProForm’s StrideSelect is a very affordable cross trainer in the short term, but it can’t be expected to hold up under heavy use. Furthermore, it has an unusually short maximum stride that makes it only practical for very short trainees. The ProForm company offers a number of better values such as the 590E, the 890E, and the 10.0 ZE.
