Weider elliptical trainers are among the many products offered under the Weider brand name. They’re manufactured by ICON Health and Fitness, the parent company for NordicTrack, ProForm and several other elliptical brands. The Weider Elliptical and Weider Elliptical Black originally sold for around $500 with one-year parts warranties. Although they are low-priced, they weigh much more than cheap competitors at around 300 pounds.
The Weider brand is primarily devoted to bodybuilding equipment. It gets its power from founders Josef and Ben Weider, two well-networked bodybuilders and businessmen. In 1945 they founded two mail order fitness equipment businesses catering to the emerging bodybuilding community in North America. Weider Sports Equipment Limited and Weider Health and Fitness grew along with the brothers’ fame in other areas of bodybuilding.
The Weider brothers are co-founders of the International Federation of BodyBuilders and Joe is known for founding the Mr. Olympia, Ms. Olympia and Masters Olympia bodybuilding contests. He’s a magazine magnate with Muscle & Fitness, Men’s Fitness and Shape being just a few of the titles under his management.
